How to Protect Your Home From Theft Using Layered Smart Security
Learn how sensors, alarms and cameras can help your family check home events.
Start by looking around your home
Walk through your home with your family. List the doors, windows and storage areas you want to watch. Think about the times when nobody is home. Keep using good locks and safe habits. Sensors can give you useful updates, but they do not make a weak door stronger or stop every theft.
Give each device a clear job
A door sensor tells you when a watched opening changes. A motion sensor notices movement in an area. A camera gives you a view. A suitable alarm or light can respond to a sensor after setup. Choose each device for a reason. More devices do not always mean a better setup.
Decide which alerts you want
Choose which events should reach your phone and when. A busy kitchen door may need different settings from a document cabinet that is rarely opened. Agree who will check an alert and what they will do next. HomeProtect helps with setup but does not run a staffed room that responds to your alerts.
Try the setup before you rely on it
Test watched openings, movement and alarm controls after installation. Check the app settings on the phones you plan to use. Ask which actions need internet and which have been tested to work inside the home without it. Repeat simple checks after changing a phone, router, device position or daily routine.
